The Princeton Engineering Group, LLC is a full services consulting firm, providing engineering and design in the following disciplines:

  • Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Systems
  • Electrical Power Distribution
  • Fire Suppression & Fire Alarm Systems
  • Lighting Design
  • Plumbing Systems
  • District Energy/Infrastructure
  • Control Systems
  • Energy Conservation and Sustainability

The Princeton Engineering Group prides itself on selecting and designing systems which are appropriate for each particular project. While we take advantage of the latest technical advances when this improves performance, foremost in our minds is the fact that what we design must be buildable and maintainable.

Intrinsic to each of our projects is an effort to choose systems and equipment which, within the constraints of the building architecture and budget, reduce energy costs and minimize adverse environmental impact through use of high efficiency components and appropriate controls. Where suitable, energy recovery and use of renewable energy resources, such as solar and geothermal systems, are utilized. Recommendations related to major sustainability investments are backed up with Life Cycle Costs Analysis. The firm is knowledgeable about LEED certification requirements.

The Engineers at PEG have established an excellent record of completing projects on time, designing within budget, and estimating and controlling costs. Much of the practice involves work with existing buildings, and the firm is skilled at anticipating and identifying hidden problems and costs.

Part of the firm’s success in controlling cost is through evaluations early in the design process and active cost monitoring throughout design development. The firm has worked with both construction managers and general contractors in project delivery.

Controlling energy costs and sustainability are intrinsic to our mechanical and electrical designs. Within the client’s means, equipment is selected for maximum efficiency. We work with the design team to optimize the building envelope in conjunction with systems to provide long term operating savings, not just first cost savings.

The firm carefully evaluates potential equipment and systems, bearing in mind, first and foremost, the client’s needs and resources. From the start of each project, we evaluate all elements bearing on the potential cost of a project including energy and maintenance costs, installation cost, manufacturers’ specifications, longevity and serviceability of components.

In consultation with the client, including facilities staff, decisions are weighed in terms of time, cost and quality to achieve the balance appropriate for the specific project. As the project moves forward, the firm evaluates subsequent design decisions through technical review and intermittent cost checks.
