Ongoing conversion of district heating and cooling systems to low energy use variable flow control. A variable speed drive centrifugal chiller system has been installed. A monitoring program is being implemented which will result in up to $400,000 in rebates from the New Jersey Standard Offer Program. The next stage in the modernization program will be replacement of a second existing CFC chiller by a non-ozone depleting, high efficiency, unit. The second chiller will be a constant speed type, which is more efficient than the variable speed unit. Control algorithms will be implemented which will optimize energy use of the system.
