Casino Building - Former Jay Gould indoor polo ground
Casino Building, Georgian Court University
Lakewood, New Jersey
The Casino Building, a 60,000 square foot building designed by Bruce Price in the late 1890's for George Gould, son of financier Jay Gould, was a "palace of entertainment" that included an indoor polo field; a swimming pool; court tennis, squash and racquets courts; a bowling alley; a ballroom; and 32 guest rooms. In the 1920s, Georgian Court College acquired the entire Gould estate for its campus and it is now a National Historic Site. We prepared construction documents for upgrades to the building, electrical and ventilation systems and for installation of a fire suppression system. A subsequent phase of the work included a new ventilation and lighting for historic Court Tennis facility
